Fort Langley Jazz & Arts Festival

From food fairs with face painting to Shakespeare in the park, there’s always something fun to do in Langley. If you’re planning on moving to a new home at Vesta Properties’ Latimer Heights community, then you can look forward to a variety of festivals happening close to home, all year-round.

Here are seven events you and your family will want to attend this summer.

1.

Arts Alive

With nearly 250 crafters, children’s activities, and live performances, Arts Alive is a long-running festival that transforms downtown Langley into a vibrant cultural playground for people of all ages, free for the whole family to enjoy. This year the festival takes place Aug. 17.

Fort Langley Cranberry Festival

Did you know that British Columbia is the third largest producer of cranberries in the world? Well, it’s true and the people of Langley Township are proud to celebrate this fact with a giant cranberry festival. Each October at The Fort Langley National Historic Site of Canada, you’ll find live entertainment, exhibits and over 100 vendors selling all things cranberry: cranberry wine, beer, soaps, jewelry, and even treats for the dog.

Movie in the Park

Take a break from your Netflix binge and enjoy a movie in the park. On June 28 from 9:15 to 11:30 p.m., you can watch moves under the stars at Douglas Park. Don’t forget your lawn chair and someone to cozy up with.

Fraser Valley Food Truck Festival

Packed with food trucks dishing out everything from pizza to poutine and everything in between, the Fraser Valley Food Truck Festival is gastronomic affair the whole family will enjoy. In addition to food, the festival also features face painting and a local artisan market with hand-crafted souvenirs. This year the festival takes place June 15 at Douglas Park in Langley.

Bard in the Valley

If you fancy live theatre on the outdoor stage, head over to Douglas Park near Latimer Heights. This popular summertime theatre series will feature multiple free performances of A Midsummer Night’s Dream from June 28 to July 28. Don’t forget to pack a picnic!

Fork and Finger Festival

Enjoy sampler plates from 15 different Langley restaurants at this annual foodie festival which takes place on Aug. 24. In addition to free food, Fork and Finger Festival features live cooking demonstrations, entertainment, and a chance to win a $1,000 gift certificate which can be spent at any participating store in downtown Langley.

McBurney Plaza Summer Series

Impersonators, face painters, and magicians are just a few of the smiling faces you’ll see at Langley’s McBurney Plaza this summer. Beginning June 22, the McBurney Plaza Summer Series kicks off live music and gourmet ice pops and will wrap up on Aug. 10 with a roving magic show and cotton candy.

Latimer Heights is a gorgeous 74-acre neighbourhood that will become the new gateway to Langley and is the largest master-planned community in the Township of Langley with nearly 2,000 new homes. These new homes development in Langley will also include greenspace and a commercial/retail hub.
