Six unbelievable bike trails near Copperstone in Calgary

With warm weather upon us in Calgary, there’s no better way to enjoy the city’s most scenic spots than from the seat of a bicycle. Biking and walking is a great way to safely practice social distancing while getting fresh air.
Whether you prefer winding recreational trails, rugged mountain biking terrain or paved road riding, there are a variety of trails and looped pathways for all types of cyclists.
Here are six trails to try this spring near Vesta’s Copperstone community. Enjoy the ride!
1.
Fish Creek Provincial Park
As one of the largest urban green spaces in North America, Fish Creek Provincial Park is an excellent place to spend the day peddling around on two wheels. Located less than 20 minutes from Copperstone, cyclists of all skill levels will enjoy the narrow pathways and twisting trails at this park. Don’t forget to wear a bike helmet. The park is in phase two of their recreation relaunch.

Pearce Estate Wetland
Located less than 20 minutes from Vesta’s Copperstone community, The Pearce Estate Wetland is a gorgeous city park that occupies 52 acres along the Bow River. Cyclists enjoy nature and wildlife in abundance at this outdoor gem. Be sure to maintain two metres apart when encountering others so you can practice safe social distancing.

Banff National Park
Canada’s most scenic roads and bike trails are located less than 2 hours away from Vesta’s new homes in Calgary. Whether you want to take your family for a lakeside spin, tackle some tough road climbs, or enjoy the thrill of a downhill mountain trail, Banff National Park has many options, both on-road and off, for cyclists of all ages and abilities. Make sure you pack a bike repair kit and warm waterproof layers. Keep in mind that currently, many of the park’s visitor services are closed to due to COVID-19 to mitigate crowding.

Carburn Park
With no major hills or dips, Coburn Park is a fantastic spot for first-time riders or anyone looking to get some practice time on a bike. Located along the east bank of the Bow River just 20 minutes from Vesta’s new homes in Calgary, cyclists will find an easy 3 km paved pathway that loops around a quaint pond and leads to an ice-cream in the parking lot.

Bow River Pathway
To reconnect with nature within the city, explore Calgary’s vast park network and take a relaxing ride along the 48-kilometer Bow River Pathway. Cyclists can connect to the Bow River Pathway from Vesta’s Copperstone community by biking only 20 minutes to Patterson Homestead Memorial Park. Head west through Fish Creek to Annie’s Café for refreshments if you need a rest. The café is open for window pickup only, please observe a safe distance when visiting.

Prince Island’s Park
Located in the heart of downtown Calgary, just 25 minutes from new homes at Copperstone, Prince Island Park features paved pathways and scenic river views. After exploring the park on two wheels, indulge in a socially distanced picnic basket lunch at the River Café.
